Recently, she was recognized as an early NSF CAREER scholar for her research on broadening participation in the P-20 STEM+C workforce pipeline.
The ACCEYSS Network and Model was conceptualized by Dr. Shetay Ashford-Hanserd in 2017. In her dissertation research, she discovered that churches are valuable institutions to engage more people in STEAM and computing education. Therefore, the ACCEYSS Network is building a network of faith-based and community organizations as community partners, providing them with curriculum, resources, and funding.
