Dr. Shetay Ashford-Hanserd (affectionately known as Dr. Shetay) is chair and professor in the Department of Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies at Texas State University. Since 2016, she has served as a principal or co-principal investigator of federally funded research projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Department of Labor yielding nearly $11M. Currently, she serves as principal investigator of the Association of Collaborative Communities Equipping Youth for STEM Success (ACCEYSS) Consortium, which is one of two Collaborative Change Consortia in the nation funded by NSF's Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES program. Recently, she was recognized as an early NSF CAREER scholar for her research on broadening participation in the P-20 STEM+C workforce pipeline.

The ACCEYSS Network and Model was conceptualized by Dr. Shetay Ashford-Hanserd in 2017. In her dissertation research, she discovered that churches are valuable institutions to engage more people in STEAM and computing education.  Therefore, the ACCEYSS Network is building a network of faith-based and community organizations as community partners, providing them with curriculum, resources, and funding.
